Finding Peace in the Chaos: The Truth About Meditation

When you hear the word “meditation,” what comes to mind? Many people picture someone sitting cross-legged  with palms up, spine in perfect posture in serene silence, their mind completely blank. But here’s the truth: meditation isn’t about quieting your mind or erasing your thoughts. It’s not about only having positive or “good” thoughts, either.

Meditation is the act of witnessing your thoughts. It’s about observing them as they come and go, without judgment, without engaging, and without labeling them as good or bad. Your mind might feel chaotic, loud, or restless at first—and that’s okay. It doesn't mean you're doing it wrong!  Let your mind do its thing. Like a puppy or a two-year-old demanding attention, it will eventually wear itself out and calm down

Mindfulness and meditation teach us to tolerate the discomfort that often comes with our thoughts and emotions. Rather than distracting ourselves or pushing feelings away, we learn to embrace their presence. Sometimes, this process can feel physically uncomfortable as we become aware of the bodily sensations that accompany our emotions. But this awareness is exactly how we “sit with” our feelings and start to heal.

Meditation is not about controlling your thoughts- but giving them permission to exist without attaching meaning to them. Thoughts and emotions ebb and flow, peak and subside. They aren’t You. You are not your thoughts. When we allow them to pass through like words across a tv screen, without resistance, we find our center. We become the observer of our thoughts. From this grounded place, we can truly connect with ourselves and our inner wisdom.

Once your mind has permission to settle, the self-mind—the part of you that holds intuition, insight, and peace—can step forward. This is where you’ll find clarity for decisions, pure motivation, and a deep sense of calm. It’s also how you tune into your God-given intuition—an inherent gift to every soul. I like to think of intuition as one of the ways God speaks to me directly.

In our modern culture, we’ve become disconnected from our bodies and the primal language of intuition. From the moment we’re born, we’re taught to prioritize convenience or societal expectations over our own instincts and knowing. Meditation is a practice of returning to ourselves and reconnecting with The Limitless Source of wisdom, creativity, compassion, and peace.

When you take even a few moments at the start of your day to meditate, you’re recalibrating your perspective. You’re aligning with your intuition and tapping into the abundant peace and love available to us all. And when you begin your day from this place of grounding, everything else becomes more manageable.

Try This: Take three minutes now to sit in stillness. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and simply observe your thoughts. Let them come and go without judgment or action. Notice how it feels to let them exist without engaging. See if you can find the space in between them.

Remember, meditation isn’t about doing it perfectly. It’s a practice of showing up and being present with yourself—because you are worth the time and intention it takes.  If Jesus himself took the time to meditate on the regular-you cant go wrong. Science has proven the numerous benefits of a regular practice over and over again. It can literally add years to your life!

If you're wanting guidance in this practice let me know!  I regularly work with my clients providing guided meditation in session. I've been meditating for many years and know firsthand that it's a powerful way to heal your mind and discover emotional regulation.

Love,

Eva
